Kesling Park is near our home and there is a beautiful walking trail there. There are all kinds of lovely trees planted along the way. And no matter the time of year; it is a wonderful place to walk, listen to the birds sing, and not even realize you are exercising. This painting is a glimpse of an early morning sunrise while walking the trail.
There's just something so sweet about the female cardinal. I think it's the pastel colors contrasting the dark little eye mask. We have a couple of cardinal pairs that have been regulars at our window feeder this winter. For this painting though, I decided to perch her in a birch tree. I just completed this painting this afternoon. It's a 5x7 original oil painting. I titled it simply: "Mrs Cardinal". It is framed and ready to be hung. The last couple of days have been in the 50's, and there has been a tease of spring in the air. The bird’s songs seemed more cheerful and the sun was warm on my face when I went to check the mail. I have come to know the hard truth however, about the weather in Northern Indiana. There's more cold weather ahead and most likely quite a bit more snow. On a days like these though it's easy to dream about flowers and warm breezes. This painting is just off the easel and is available. "Spring Dream" is an 8x10 original oil painting.
